Tika Carr is an independent musician, songwriter and producer based in Rochester, NY. Tika was raised in a musical family and started playing a chord organ and acoustic guitar at the age of 7. By age 14, she was writing and recording songs in her bedroom using electronic keyboards and electric guitars, later refining her guitar skills through private lessons in her through her teens and early 20s. 

While personal challenges and the local music climate stalled her bid for mainstream success in the 1980s, she gained recognition in 1994 when she recorded an original track which was featured on GEnie Information Services' privately distributed MIDI Composer's Workshop RoundTable compilation cassette.

While Tika appreciates many genres of music, her musical exploration includes a diverse mix of Hard Rock, Heavy Metal, Blues, Jazz and Electronic music including Electronica, Techno, Dubstep, Vaporwave, and the 1990s DemoScene.

Following early performances in junior and senior high school choirs and school talent shows, personal and health challenges prompted Tika to permanently step away from the live stage very early on. Today, she channels modern technology to fulfill her creative vision and maintains a presence across various online music and art communities.

Tika's recording setup includes musical instruments such as electric guitars and an Arturia MiniLab 3 keyboard controller. She has used Mixcraft since version 4 and currently uses the Pro Studio of the digital audio workstation. With over four decades of computer programming experience, technology comes naturally to her creative process. She has always been fascinated in computer generated music and has experimented with the Orchestra 99-CC music cartridge on the Tandy Color Computer, MOD Trackers from the 1990s DemoScene era and most recently AI Music and prodution. 

Tika also is a traditional artist since her teen years. She is a graduate of the former Art Instructions Schools (Minneapolis, MN) home study program, and has entered her artwork in contests and events. Her artwork is also featured in the Annual Rochester Contemporary Art Center 6 x 6 Small Art Phenomena benefit exhibition. Tika's artwork is mostly expressionist and illustrative, using bold colors and shapes. She works predominantly in acrylic and watercolor, occasionally integrating mixed media into her paintings and drawings.

As an artist living with chronic illness and nerve damage, Tika champions accessible arts to empower disabled creators and amplify their voices, driven by a fierce commitment to creative independence.
